Silk is China's gift to the world — the Silk Road was named for it. Today, China remains the world's largest silk producer.

丝绸产地 | Silk Origins

杭州 — 中国丝绸之都，杭州丝绸历史超过一千年。中国丝绸博物馆值得参观（免费），对面的丝绸商店品质有保障。杭州的丝绸市场在凤起路和体育场路一带。

Hangzhou — China's silk capital with over 1,000 years of silk history. The China National Silk Museum is worth visiting (free admission), and the shop opposite offers quality-guaranteed products. Hangzhou's silk markets are around Fengqi Road and Tiyuchang Road.

苏州 — "苏绣"是四大名绣之首，双面绣技术令人叹为观止——一块丝绸正反两面绣出不同的图案。苏州十全街和观前街有丝绸店。

Suzhou — "Su embroidery" ranks first among China's four great embroidery traditions. Double-sided embroidery is breathtaking — different patterns on each side of one piece of silk. Silk shops on Shiquan Street and Guanqian Street.

• 真丝围巾/丝巾 — 100-500元，轻便好带，送人自用皆宜。认准"100%桑蚕丝"标签。 Silk scarves — ¥100-500, lightweight and easy to carry, great for gifts or personal use. Look for the "100% mulberry silk" label.

• 真丝睡衣 — 200-800元，穿过真丝睡衣就回不去了。杭州本地品牌价格比进口品牌便宜一半以上。 Silk pajamas — ¥200-800. Once you've worn silk pajamas, there's no going back. Local Hangzhou brands cost less than half of imported brands.

• 丝绸被 — 蚕丝被轻薄保暖透气，1000-3000元。缺点是体积大不好带，可以选择快递回国。 Silk quilts — lightweight, warm, and breathable. ¥1,000-3,000. Bulky to carry; consider shipping home.

• 双面绣摆件 — 苏州特色，一个木框里正反绣不同图案（如猫和虎），200-数千元，非常适合做艺术品收藏。 Double-sided embroidery pieces — a Suzhou specialty with different patterns on each side (like cat and tiger) in a wooden frame. ¥200 to thousands, ideal as collectible art.

鉴别真丝 | How to Identify Real Silk

1. 摸 — 真丝手感凉滑，化纤摸起来有涩感 | Touch — real silk feels cool and smooth; synthetic feels rough
2. 看 — 真丝有自然光泽，不同角度变色；化纤光泽死板 | Look — real silk has natural luster that changes with angle; synthetic has flat sheen
3. 烧 — 真丝燃烧有毛发味、灰烬可碾碎；化纤有塑料味、结硬块 | Burn — real silk smells like burning hair, ash crumbles; synthetic smells plastic, forms hard beads
