Northern Xinjiang is one of China's last great wildernesses. Snow-capped peaks, rolling grasslands, golden poplars, and shifting dunes coexist here in their most primal forms. This guide covers the full loop from Ürümqi through Sayram Lake, Nalati, Kanas, Hemu, and the Ghost City — 12 days to lose yourself completely in the vast lands north of the Tianshan.

行前准备 / Before You Go

新疆面积相当于三个法国，北疆的景点之间动辄相距数百公里。自驾是最自由的方式，但需要提前在乌鲁木齐或网上预订越野车（推荐丰田普拉多或陆巡），旺季（7-8月）租金约600-900元/天，含司机的包车方案更适合不熟悉路况的旅行者，全程包车大约8000-12000元。

Xinjiang is roughly three times the size of France, and the sights in the north are often hundreds of kilometers apart. Self-driving offers the most freedom, but you'll need to book a 4WD in advance in Ürümqi or online — a Toyota Prado or Land Cruiser runs about ¥600–900/day during peak season (July–August). For those unfamiliar with the roads, hiring a driver-guide for the full loop costs around ¥8,000–12,000 total and is well worth the peace of mind.

飞往乌鲁木齐的航班从北京约需3.5小时，从上海约4小时，从成都约3小时。建议提前2-3天抵达乌鲁木齐适应海拔（市区海拔约900米，喀纳斯景区约1400米），顺便逛逛二道桥大巴扎，尝尝正宗的大盘鸡和烤羊肉串。

Flights to Ürümqi take about 3.5 hours from Beijing, 4 hours from Shanghai, and 3 hours from Chengdu. Arriving 1–2 days early to acclimatize is a good idea — the city sits at around 900m elevation, while Kanas reaches 1,400m. Use the extra time to explore Erdaoqiao Grand Bazaar and eat your fill of dapanji (big-plate chicken) and lamb skewers.

第1-2天：乌鲁木齐 / Days 1–2: Ürümqi

抵达当天，入住市中心酒店（推荐友好北路一带，交通便利）。次日上午前往新疆博物馆（免费，建议留2小时），馆内的"楼兰美女"干尸和汉唐丝路文物令人叹为观止。下午逛二道桥国际大巴扎，这里是乌鲁木齐最有烟火气的地方——维吾尔族商贩的叫卖声、烤馕的焦香、手工地毯的鲜艳色彩，五感同时被轰炸。

On arrival day, check into a hotel near Youhao North Road — central, convenient, and close to good food. The next morning, head to Xinjiang Museum (free entry, allow 2 hours): the "Loulan Beauty" mummy and Silk Road artifacts from the Han and Tang dynasties are genuinely stunning. In the afternoon, wander Erdaoqiao Grand Bazaar — the shouts of Uyghur vendors, the smoky scent of baking naan, the riot of color from handwoven carpets. It's sensory overload in the best possible way.

晚餐推荐"九龙大盘鸡"（人均约60元），点一份大盘鸡配皮带面，再来一壶新疆黑啤，这顿饭会成为整个旅程的味觉基准线。

For dinner, try Jiulong Dapanji restaurant (around ¥60/person). Order the signature big-plate chicken with belt noodles and a jug of Xinjiang dark beer. This meal will set the flavor benchmark for the entire trip.

第3天：赛里木湖 / Day 3: Sayram Lake

从乌鲁木齐驱车约4小时（或乘大巴，约5小时，票价约80元）抵达赛里木湖。湖面海拔2073米，面积458平方公里，是新疆最大的高山湖泊。湖水的颜色会随天气变化——晴天是深邃的宝石蓝，多云时变成神秘的灰绿色。

Drive about 4 hours from Ürümqi (or take a bus, ~5 hours, ¥80) to reach Sayram Lake. Sitting at 2,073m elevation and covering 458 sq km, it's Xinjiang's largest alpine lake. The water shifts color with the weather — a deep sapphire blue on clear days, a mysterious grey-green when clouds roll in.

景区门票90元，可以骑马沿湖边走（约100元/小时），也可以徒步环湖（全程约60公里，需2天）。我个人强烈推荐在湖边的哈萨克族毡房住一晚（约200-300元/人，含晚餐和早餐），夜里躺在毡房里听风声，清晨掀开帘子看到湖面升起的薄雾，那种宁静是任何五星酒店都给不了的。

Admission is ¥90. You can ride horses along the shore (¥100/hour) or hike the full perimeter (about 60km, takes 2 days). My strong recommendation: spend a night in a Kazakh yurt on the lakeshore (¥200–300/person, dinner and breakfast included). Falling asleep to the sound of wind, then lifting the felt flap at dawn to see mist rising off the lake — no five-star hotel can replicate that stillness.

第4-5天：那拉提草原 / Days 4–5: Nalati Grassland

从赛里木湖驱车约3小时抵达那拉提，这里是天山腹地最著名的草原之一。门票130元，景区内有观光车（30元）或骑马游览（200元/2小时）。

Drive about 3 hours from Sayram Lake to Nalati, one of the most celebrated grasslands in the heart of the Tianshan. Admission is ¥130; shuttle buses inside cost ¥30, or rent a horse for ¥200/2 hours.

七月的那拉提，草场绿得像是被人工上色。成群的哈萨克牧民赶着羊群从山坡上缓缓走下，马背上的牧人戴着毡帽，身后是连绵起伏的山脊线。这幅画面不需要任何滤镜，它本身就是一张完美的明信片。

In July, the grasslands at Nalati are so intensely green they look artificially colored. Kazakh herders drive their flocks slowly down the hillsides, riders in felt hats silhouetted against rolling ridgelines. No filter needed — the scene is already a perfect postcard.

第5天可以徒步至空中草原观景台（海拔约2000米），俯瞰整个那拉提盆地。建议早上7点出发，避开旅游团，独享清晨的薄雾和鸟鸣。

On Day 5, hike up to the Sky Grassland viewpoint (around 2,000m elevation) for a panoramic view of the entire Nalati basin. Leave by 7am to beat the tour groups and have the morning mist and birdsong to yourself.

第6-7天：独库公路 / Days 6–7: Duku Highway

独库公路（独山子至库车，全长561公里）被誉为"中国最美公路之一"，每年6月至10月开放。从那拉提出发，沿独库公路北段行驶，穿越天山腹地，沿途经过乔尔玛烈士陵园、大小龙池等景点。

The Duku Highway (Dushanzi to Kuqa, 561km total) is considered one of China's most scenic drives, open from June to October. Heading north from Nalati, the road cuts through the heart of the Tianshan, passing the Qiaerma Martyrs' Cemetery and the Dragon Lakes along the way.

公路两侧的景色变化极为戏剧性：从草原到雪山，从峡谷到森林，有时候一个弯道就能让你从夏天穿越到冬天。建议在乔尔玛停留半小时，这里长眠着3000多名修路牺牲的解放军战士，站在陵园里，会对脚下这条路产生完全不同的感受。

The scenery along the highway shifts with dramatic speed: grassland to snowfield, canyon to forest — sometimes a single bend takes you from summer into winter. Stop for half an hour at Qiaerma, where over 3,000 PLA soldiers who died building this road are buried. Standing in that cemetery changes how you feel about the road beneath your feet.

第8-9天：喀纳斯 / Days 8–9: Kanas

喀纳斯是北疆的王冠。从布尔津县城乘景区班车约1.5小时（门票含车票，旺季约245元）进入景区。喀纳斯湖长约24公里，湖水因含有大量矿物质呈现出变幻莫测的翠绿色。

Kanas is the crown jewel of Northern Xinjiang. From Burqin County, take the scenic area shuttle (about 1.5 hours; peak-season admission including transport is around ¥245). Kanas Lake stretches 24km long, its water a shifting jade-green from dissolved minerals.

强烈建议住在景区内的木屋（约400-600元/晚），而不是每天往返。清晨5点半起床，徒步至观鱼台（约45分钟上坡），在第一缕阳光照射湖面之前抵达。那一刻，整个湖面笼罩在金色的晨雾中，远处的雪山倒映在水里，偶尔有鱼跃出水面——传说中的"湖怪"或许就是这些巨型哲罗鲑。

I strongly recommend staying in the wooden cabins inside the scenic area (¥400–600/night) rather than commuting daily. Wake at 5:30am and hike to the Fish Viewing Platform (about 45 minutes uphill) before the first light hits the lake. In that moment, the entire surface is wrapped in golden morning mist, snow peaks reflected in the water, the occasional fish breaking the surface — the legendary "lake monster" is almost certainly these giant taimen salmon.

第10天：禾木村 / Day 10: Hemu Village

从喀纳斯驱车约1.5小时抵达禾木村，这是中国最美的村庄之一。村子里住着图瓦族人，他们的木屋建筑风格与俄罗斯西伯利亚极为相似。门票80元。

Drive about 1.5 hours from Kanas to Hemu Village, one of China's most beautiful villages. The Tuvan people here live in log cabins that look remarkably similar to Siberian Russian architecture. Admission is ¥80.

秋天（9月下旬至10月初）的禾木是摄影师的天堂：白桦树和落叶松同时变色，金黄色的树叶在晨雾中颤抖，炊烟从木屋的烟囱里袅袅升起。即使是夏天，清晨的禾木也有一种童话般的宁静。建议在村里住一晚，体验图瓦族家庭的手抓肉和奶茶。

In autumn (late September to early October), Hemu is a photographer's paradise: birch and larch trees turn simultaneously, golden leaves trembling in morning mist, woodsmoke curling from cabin chimneys. Even in summer, Hemu at dawn has a fairytale stillness. Stay a night and try a Tuvan family's hand-grabbed mutton and milk tea.

第11天：魔鬼城（乌尔禾） / Day 11: Ghost City (Wuerhe)

从禾木驱车约4小时抵达乌尔禾魔鬼城。这片雅丹地貌形成于约1亿年前，风蚀造就了无数奇形怪状的土丘，在夕阳下呈现出橙红色和紫色的渐变。门票50元，景区内有电瓶车（20元）。

Drive about 4 hours from Hemu to Wuerhe Ghost City. This yardang landscape formed roughly 100 million years ago; wind erosion has sculpted countless bizarre earthen towers that glow orange and purple at sunset. Admission is ¥50; electric carts inside cost ¥20.

傍晚6点左右，当太阳接近地平线，整个魔鬼城会变成一片燃烧的橙红色。风从土丘之间穿过，发出低沉的呼啸声，这就是"魔鬼城"名字的由来。在这里待到日落，是整个北疆之旅最具仪式感的收尾。

Around 6pm, as the sun nears the horizon, the entire Ghost City ignites in burning orange-red. Wind funneling between the earthen towers produces a deep, moaning howl — that's where the name comes from. Staying until sunset here is the most ceremonial possible ending to a Northern Xinjiang journey.

第12天：返回乌鲁木齐 / Day 12: Return to Ürümqi

从乌尔禾驱车约3小时返回乌鲁木齐，在二道桥买些手信：和田玉（注意辨别真假，建议在正规店购买）、葡萄干、核桃、杏干，以及手工地毯（小尺寸约200-500元）。

Drive about 3 hours back to Ürümqi from Wuerhe. Stop at Erdaoqiao for souvenirs: Hetian jade (buy from reputable shops to avoid fakes), raisins, walnuts, dried apricots, and handwoven rugs (small sizes run ¥200–500).

晚上可以在乌鲁木齐吃一顿告别大餐——推荐"西域都护"餐厅的烤全羊（需提前预订，约800元/只，6-8人份），配上新疆红酒，为这12天画上一个圆满的句号。

For a farewell dinner, try the whole roasted lamb at Xiyududu restaurant (book ahead, ¥800/lamb, serves 6–8), paired with Xinjiang red wine. A fitting end to 12 extraordinary days.

实用信息 / Practical Info

最佳旅行时间： 6月下旬至9月，7-8月草原最绿，9月下旬看秋色。避开5月（景区未全开）和10月后（部分道路封闭）。

Best time to visit: Late June to September. Grasslands peak in July–August; autumn colors peak in late September. Avoid May (some areas not yet open) and after October (road closures).

住宿预算： 乌鲁木齐市区200-400元/晚，景区内木屋/毡房300-600元/晚。旺季务必提前2-3周预订喀纳斯和禾木的住宿。

Accommodation budget: ¥200–400/night in Ürümqi; ¥300–600/night for cabins/yurts inside scenic areas. Book Kanas and Hemu accommodation 2–3 weeks ahead in peak season.

高原反应： 北疆大部分地区海拔在1000-2000米，高原反应较轻，但仍建议备好红景天和布洛芬。

Altitude: Most of Northern Xinjiang sits between 1,000–2,000m. Altitude sickness is usually mild, but bring rhodiola and ibuprofen just in case.

通讯： 景区内信号较差，建议下载离线地图（奥维互动地图或Maps.me）。喀纳斯和禾木基本无信号，提前告知家人。

Connectivity: Signal is poor in most scenic areas. Download offline maps (Amap or Maps.me) before you go. Kanas and Hemu have almost no signal — let family know in advance.
