Spring in China isn't one season — it's a three-month flower show rolling from south to north. Guangzhou's kapok trees bloom in February; Beijing's magnolias don't open until April.

二月：南方先开 / February: The South Blooms First

罗平油菜花（云南）——中国最早最大的油菜花海。每年2月中旬到3月，罗平坝子里20万亩油菜花同时开放，金黄色铺满整个盆地，喀斯特山峰从花海中冒出来。金鸡峰丛是最佳观景点——站在高处看，花田像金色的海浪围绕着一座座锥形山峰。螺丝田是另一个经典机位，梯田层层叠叠种满油菜花，从空中看像一个巨大的螺旋。

Luoping Rapeseed Flowers (Yunnan) — China's earliest and largest rapeseed sea. Mid-February to March, 200,000 mu of rapeseed blooms simultaneously across the Luoping basin, golden yellow filling the entire valley, karst peaks poking through the flower sea. Jinjifeng (Golden Rooster Peak Cluster) is the best viewpoint — from above, flower fields look like golden waves surrounding conical peaks. Luositian (Snail Field) is another classic photo spot, terraced fields layered with rapeseed, looking like a giant spiral from the air.

林芝桃花（西藏）——海拔2900米的桃花。每年3月中旬到4月初，雅鲁藏布江两岸的野桃花盛开，粉色花海背后是雪山——南迦巴瓦峰（7782米）经常在桃花季露出真容。嘎拉桃花村是最热门的观赏点，但索松村（对面看南迦巴瓦）更震撼。林芝桃花节通常在3月下旬举办。

Nyingchi Peach Blossoms (Tibet) — Peach blossoms at 2,900m elevation. Mid-March to early April, wild peach trees along the Yarlung Tsangpo River burst into bloom, pink flower seas backed by snow mountains — Namcha Barwa (7,782m) often reveals itself during peach blossom season. Gala Peach Blossom Village is the most popular spot, but Suosong Village (facing Namcha Barwa) is more stunning. The Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival is usually held in late March.

武汉樱花——武汉大学的樱花大道是中国最著名的樱花观赏地。每年3月中旬到4月初，1000多棵樱花树同时盛开，花瓣飘落时像下雪。需要提前预约（免费但限流）。东湖樱花园规模更大（1万多棵），不需要预约。

Wuhan Cherry Blossoms — Wuhan University's cherry blossom avenue is China's most famous cherry viewing spot. Mid-March to early April, 1,000+ cherry trees bloom simultaneously; falling petals look like snow. Advance reservation required (free but crowd-controlled). East Lake Cherry Garden is larger (10,000+ trees) and doesn't require reservations.

四月：花事正浓 / April: Peak Bloom

洛阳牡丹——"唯有牡丹真国色，花开时节动京城"。洛阳种牡丹有1500年历史，每年4月的牡丹文化节是全城盛事。中国国花园（门票40元）和王城公园（门票40元）是最大的两个牡丹园，品种超过1000种。洛阳牡丹的特别之处在于花朵巨大（直径可达20厘米），颜色从纯白到深紫都有。

Luoyang Peonies — "Only the peony is truly the national beauty; when it blooms, the capital stirs." Luoyang has grown peonies for 1,500 years; the April Peony Culture Festival is a citywide event. China National Flower Garden (¥40) and Wangcheng Park (¥40) are the two largest peony gardens, with 1,000+ varieties. Luoyang peonies are special for their enormous blooms (up to 20cm diameter), ranging from pure white to deep purple.

婺源油菜花（江西）——和罗平不同，婺源的油菜花是和徽派建筑搭配的——白墙黑瓦的村庄被金黄花田包围，小桥流水穿过花海。篁岭（门票120元含索道）是最经典的——梯田油菜花层层叠叠，村里还有晒秋（虽然春天看不到晒秋，但建筑本身就很美）。江岭是另一个必去的观景台。

Wuyuan Rapeseed (Jiangxi) — Unlike Luoping, Wuyuan's rapeseed pairs with Hui-style architecture — white-walled, black-tiled villages surrounded by golden fields, bridges and streams running through flower seas. Huangling (¥120 including cable car) is the classic — terraced rapeseed fields layered up the hillside, plus the village's autumn-drying tradition (though you won't see it in spring, the architecture alone is beautiful). Jiangling is another must-visit viewpoint.

五月：高原花开 / May: Highland Blooms

伊犁杏花沟（新疆）——中世纪遗留下来的原始野杏林，面积3万多亩，是中国最大的野杏林。每年4月底到5月初，山坡上的杏花开成粉色云海，配上绿色草地和远处的雪山，像油画。但花期极短（约一周），需要碰运气。

Ili Apricot Valley (Xinjiang) — A medieval-era wild apricot forest, 30,000+ mu, China's largest. Late April to early May, hillside apricots bloom into pink cloud seas against green meadows and distant snow mountains — like an oil painting. But the bloom is extremely short (~one week), requiring luck with timing.

毕节百里杜鹃（贵州）——世界上最大的天然杜鹃花林带，绵延50多公里。每年3月底到5月，漫山遍野的杜鹃花从白色到深红色渐变，像给山坡铺了一条彩色地毯。门票150元。

Bijie Hundred-Mile Azalea (Guizhou) — The world's largest natural azalea belt, stretching 50+ km. Late March to May, mountainsides of azaleas gradient from white to deep red, like a colorful carpet draped over the hills. Ticket ¥150.
