Google、Gmail、Instagram、WhatsApp、Facebook、YouTube——在中国全部无法访问。你需要 VPN。

但这里有个陷阱：中国区 App Store 不提供 VPN 应用。如果你落地之后才想起来下载，已经晚了。在出发前把 VPN 下载好、测试好、充好值。

支付：现金基本没用 / Payment: Cash Is Nearly Useless

这是让美国游客最措手不及的一件事。

中国几乎不用现金，也不刷信用卡。便利店、餐厅、出租车、景区、街边摊——绝大多数只接受支付宝或微信支付扫码。

好消息是：外国游客现在可以用境外 Visa/Mastercard 绑定支付宝国际版。坏消息是：必须在出发前设置好，落地之后网络环境复杂，设置起来麻烦得多。

安全：比大多数美国人预期的要好 / Safety: Better Than Most Americans Expect

街头犯罪率极低。我在北京、上海、成都深夜独自走过，没有任何问题。扒手在人多的景区存在，但这是全球旅游地的通病。

真正需要注意的是：交通。中国城市的电动车和摩托车经常闯红灯、走人行道，过马路要看清楚再走。
